HOW IT ALL BEGAN
The practice was founded in 1984 by the principal, Denis Stubley and grew rapidly. The first patients very quickly encouraged family and friends to visit our forward thinking surgery to experience the high standard of service on offer.
Our building is a local landmark because of its unusual shape. Originally the Acklam Post Office, then later a bridal boutique, we still have the evidence of the hole in the floor where Mr Sherret, the postmaster at the time, deflected the rifle shot of an armed gunman attempting a robbery. Mr Sherret was awarded the OBE for his bravery and both he and his wife became cherished patients at the practice. They did find having treatment in their old sitting room a little strange at first!
Paintings of the original 1930s building and the more recent metamorphosis into a dental practice, can be seen in the entrance to our building, painted by Mr Sherret himself.
The practice took the title of THE INDEPENDENT DENTAL PRACTICE in April 2006 and we now provide every aspect of treatment and care on a fully private basis, allowing our patients to have the very best treatments available throughout the world today, without any constraints or restrictions.
We welcome families, adults and children, in fact all those patients who simply want the very best for themselves and their loved ones.
Our aim is to provide high quality care at reasonable cost and the very best of treatments available, in a relaxed, comfortable and safe environment. Our clinicians are committed to continuing post graduate education and keeping abreast of advances in modern dentistry, in order to maintain the high standards our patients have come to expect from us.
